Since it was raining cats and dogs last night, I thought this would be a perfect match! My second grade students were introduced to the wonderful
children’s book, Art Dog by Thacher
Hurd. The story revolves around the
mystery of the missing Mona Woofa, aka Mona
Lisa painted by Leonardo Dog Vinci.
Art Dog solves the mystery and is able to restore the Mona Woofa to the
Dogopolis Museum of Art. The story ends
with Art Dog “painting the town” thus creating his masterpiece, City Rhapsody. I first had the students paint a swirling sky
with watercolors, and than they added gold and silver paint markers to add a
little sparkle. The next class was spent
using construction paper to create a cityscape.
