Vintage carpenter toolbox tray revamp

I bought a really rough, dirty and grungy carpenter tool box last summer at a garage sale for $3.00. Sorry no before pictures, I have been out of the blogsphere for a while, so I realized I forgot to take a pic after I added my base color.  I followed these great steps from Shanty-2-chic on how to distress paint with vaseline.  I love all their ideas!! I used spray paint for both coats of paint.  I did add one more step, I rubbed on paste wax and than just buffed it off for my final coat since I love the look!
Its my new clutter buster on my coffee table, to hold all those remotes, my kindle and of course my reading glasses!

I finally saw the light, DIY Solar Chandelier

I finally put my solar chandelier together after storing everything in my shed since last summer.  I got the idea from my good friend, Windy.  I took all the electric wires out and unscrewed the bulbs, than glued on solar lights.  See my post on a diy solar wall sconce for  more details... Its hanging on my back patio, love the twinkling lights...

What's Cooking Wednesday-Taco Soup

Taco Soup
**This is a recipe my mom shared.  I don't know the origin, therefore, unable to give credit.  Please let me know if it's yours.**
This is a great week night recipe.

Ingredients
  •  rotisserie or grilled chicken (bones removed)
  • 1 can mexicorn
  • 1 can campbell's tomato soup
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 ranch seasoning packet
  • 1 taco seasoning packet
  • Sour Cream
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Dump the ingredients into a stockpot, mix and warm up.  Served with a dollop of sour cream and shredded cheese on top, with tortilla chips on the side.

My alterations to the recipe:
  • The recipe does not call for it, but I add 1 or 2 cans of diced tomatoes.
  • I often double the soup, corn, and beans to the chicken ratio.

This is a great use of my "best grilled chicken".

Let me know if you try it, and any changes you might think to make.
