Halloween UnCostume

I teach at a Traditional Middle School, if middle school isn't reason enough then traditional is--that is to NOT have costumes at school.  I miss dressing up, so I sometimes have an UnCostume.  This year I wanted to utilize spray paint after a successful experience with it in the past.
I started with a spider ring I found in our Halloween stuff, then I super glued it to a hair clip.  I sprayed it thoroughly with a metallic finish.  This was a Pinterest inspired hair accessory.  (I may add glitter?)

Next I grabbed an old gray t-shirt that had a stain on the front.  A cardboard centerpiece of a haunted house I picked up at Dollar Tree and a can of black spray paint.
We have sprayed shirts in the past and have been pretty successful.  I think we were this time too.  I can't wait to where it.
Under the direction of my 13 year old, I added a ghost too!

Happy Halloween

Halloween 2012

Some good friends of ours have a "costume" party every year.  It is a running joke that we often are the only ones to dress up.  This year was no different. With last minute planning and thanks to my creative friend Janet, we decided on a 1950s Couple (Ward and June Cleaver were my inspiration).  It was a pretty fast and easy costume.  A quick stop at the thrift store for a sweater vest for my husband, and a martini glass for me.  Then, scouring the house for the correct ensemble and we were done.  How did we do?

It was the first time in a long time that the kids had store bought costumes (my creative juices are looking for an outlet now!).
We had a vampiress, and.....

A couple of presidential candidates (Obama and Romney).

Have a spooky and safe Halloween!

Haunted Halloween

Get your Halloween on!

Halloween is one of my favorites!
I decorated for Halloween the first week in September, but I am sorry to say never got around to taking pictures or posting.  I have been tackling my basement organization, between that football, girl scouts, piano, music programs, swimming lessons.....uuggghhh!  I have become one of those moms......ramble ramble.

Here is what I came up with this year for my Halloween display.

Of course our Pirate bear is here to great everyone.

I love my pumpkins at the gate!  One side is a jack-o-lantern, isn't it cute how the mouth is part of a knot.  The other side is just a pumpkin color for after Halloween until Christmas deco goes up.  Again thanks to my husband for these.

Love my spiders!  This year I added suction cups to their feet and stuck it on the window.  (I picked these up years ago after the season at Target)
Finally, my wreath (I just threw it together), an old grapevine wreath that I wrapped leaf garland around and stuck a cute sign on.

Please Comment, I love to hear from you

More Fall decor with hedge apples

We are experiencing our first true autumn weather with a frost predicted over night.  It really put me in the mood to decorate for fall.  I like to use hedge apples in and outside my house to add some fall color and texture.  I usually harvest some from my sister's place but this year I went looking along an old hedge row just outside of town.  I scored a lot of small ones which work great in my cement garden planter by the front door and my hammered metal bowl on the dining room table.  Check out this post on using them in your window boxes.

Grilled Pizza

My new favorite way to fix pizza.
We love making homemade pizza at our house and usually we make our own crust. The other night we were pressed for time, so I picked some shelf stable ready made crusts at Walmart. This was before our latest cold snap, so I didn't want to heat up the house with oven. Out to the grill I went. Well, I think they were the best we have had in a long time. This my first attempt to post from my phone so patience please.

***okay so posting from my phone doesn't work**
